I am Invincible – Aug 13

By Yosia Yusuf

If you are a fan of action and war movies, you should be very familiar with this line – “I am invincible.” My heart is throbbed when I saw the hero fight through all obstacles, endure countless night of suffering and persevere to the end. There are many times that the hero is about to die but somehow he manage to keep going. The movie usually ends with eruption of applause from the audience. Our hearts are captivated with the strength shown by the hero. We desire to be invincible. But then reality hits and we realize how fragile we are. We think that invincibility is not something that we can have outside of our own imagination. Or is it?

Experiences in life show that we are a very fragile creature. It only takes a single bacteria to kill us. The life expectancy in our culture is around 70 years. But we know many people who did not even pass 50 years old barrier. One can train and discipline their body to prolong their life. But even then, they cannot escape death. Mr. Jiroemon Kimura, the oldest man verified to have ever lived in the Guiness World Records, celebrated his 116th birthday last April. But even he cannot escape death. He passed away few weeks ago on 12th of June. Invincibility, is this possible?

If our hope is only in this world, invincibility is nothing but a daydream. But if our hope is in what is to come, invincibility is not only possible, it is guaranteed! “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” It is possible for us to become invincible. Jesus has died to take the sting of death and give us victory through Him. For those who put their trust in Him, invincibility is not only possible, it is guaranteed! “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the works of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” We can fight through all obstacles and persevere to the end because we are invincible through Jesus Christ. Even when we experience death, death is not the end of the story for those who trust in Jesus; it is the beginning of our invincible life. I am Invincible!
