01 Feb Love Came Down – Feb 13
By Jeremiah Indra Arifin
Every time I hear and sing this song, it always brings me to an honest place in my heart. Whether I am in good times or in less-than-desirable situations, the song keeps reminding me that there is a more important thing than just what I can currently see or feel.
The lyrics of this song incredibly transcend all of our present circumstances down into the very nature and purpose of our existence: that we are God’s people and that we are made to praise Him.
There are of course times in life where we find it difficult to lift our hands and utter our worship towards God. Other times, we might find it very easy to sing praises and give thanks to Him.
This song clearly shows us that no matter where we are in life (‘highs’ or ‘lows’), we need to constantly remind ourselves that the fact we can still experience life is because of what God has done for us: that He has rescued and fully redeemed us, by His grace, with His blood, through His Son: Jesus Christ.
When we realise and understand that we have been bought at a price, we will find it in our hearts the desire to declare and confess that our whole existence ultimately belongs to Him: “For all my days, Jesus, I am yours.”
“You were bought with a price…” (1 Corinthians 7:23a)
“So you will be my people, and I will be your God.” (Jeremiah 30:22)
“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
(Psalm 34:1)
