The 90:10 Rules about stress – June 13

When circumstances are out of our control, we feel stress. When our basic needs are not being met and our safety is threatened, we tend to get anxious. Have you ever have so many things that you need to think at one time that you actually become stress out? Perhaps something like:

“Where did I put my wallet?”

“Did I lock the front door?”

“When’s mum’s birthday?”

“How do I change those settings?”


The list can go longer than this two pages article if I continue. And, it’s your thinking that brings the stress.



            So, what can we do to manage our stress?

  1. 1.     Change your thinking style

Instead of thinking negatively about your matters and stress out, always think positively.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”


  1. 2.     Let go your worry


There is this quote from Steven Covey, the author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, that “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In those choices lie our growth and our happiness.”

So, you have power to choose where to place your attention!

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”




  1. 3.     Keep it simple

To keep your life simple, face everything in life with these following attitudes:



Here are some simple things that you can start changing in your life to keep it simple:

  • Keep a regular sleep
  • Avoid eating junk food
  • Walk/ exercise
  • Mingle

“Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness.”




Once again, challenges always out there, but remember your thoughts and your attitudes the one that control what happened to you… not your boss, job, your neighbours, friends, etc. I follow the 90:10 rule… 10% is from what happens, and 90% is from how we respond.
