A life of peace

Romans 5:10-11 – 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

“THE LIFE OF TRUE PEACE IS CLOSELY CONNECTED WITH RIGHTEOUSNESS; THERE IS NO PEACE WITHOUT RIGHTEOUSNESS; THERE IS NO RIGHTEOUSNESS WITHOUT PAYMENT OF SIN, AND THE LORD JESUS IS THE ONLY PRINCE OF PEACE”

Isaiah 9:6-7 – For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

“The Lord Jesus not only has peace, but He is peace itself.”

Luke 2:13-14 – And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Shalom = Peace = It is not a calmness that is influenced by the psychology and emotions of our surroundings; but a peace that comes from the work of the Holy Spirit who already lives in us despite the violent storms around us.

Meaning of PEACE in the Bible:

  1. Peace with God

WE CAN ONLY BE RECONCILED WITH GOD THROUGH REPENTANCE AND FAITH IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Romans 5:1 – Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. Peace of God – My peace

John 14:25-27 – 25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Philippians 4:6-7 – do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

John 20:19-23 – 19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews,[c] Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”

  1. Peace from God

WE CAN RECEIVE AND ENJOY GOD’S PEACE BECAUSE WE ALREADY HAVE PEACE WHICH IS GOD HIMSELF IN OUR LIVES

Hebrews 4:15-16 – 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

HOW DO WE BUILD THE PEACE OF GOD?

  1. PEACE AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

John 16:32-33 – 32 Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. 33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 14:26 – But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

John 15:26 – But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.

John 16:27 – for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.

HOW DO WE BUILD THE PEACE OF GOD?

  1. PEACE AND THE SON OF GOD

John 14:1 – Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.

John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 –  Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.

HOW DO WE BUILD THE PEACE OF GOD?

  1. PEACE AND THE WORD OF GOD

Psalm 85:8 – Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints; but let them not turn back to folly.

HOW DO WE BUILD THE PEACE OF GOD?

  1. PEACE AND PRAYER

Philippians 4:6-7 – do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 65:1-5 – Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. Let me dwell in your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings! Selah For you, O God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

When we already have peace with God, we can have the peace of God to live on earth with peace from God.
